What a great blessing it is to be so close to a temple. Every Thursday evening our stake is allowed to clean the Vancouver Temple. So every 10 weeks our ward is assigned. We have been able to go twice so far. Our Mission President has been very generous with us and we really appreciate it. Our ward members are very supportive of this time to serve at the temple. The ward also got time to go and do some weeding on the outside as well. We went early so we could do some sealings for our family. Our Stake Patriarch was sealer so it was a really fun experience. There is no doubt that some of the folks on the other side of the veil are anxious for us to do their work.

Bellingham has a long delighful spring. There is lots of rain but the flowers just keep on blooming. These  flowers are special to us beause they are on our property and our grandkids helped us dig them out from the blackberries last summer. If you aren't careful the blackberries around here will take over everything. The great thing is that it looks like spring will continue for quite a while. There has been no let up rain at least.

On fast Sunday the single adults have a break your fast potluck with a speaker. The speakers are great and food is very good. They move the event from building to building so it is easier for various people to attend. We have been taking some of the single sisters we have been working with and they really need and enjoy the fellowship that is there. Besides we get to hear a great speaker and have good food.

Nellie;s Visit

The young elders are always looking for ways to become more effective missionaries. This week they worked on their appearance in general and shining their shoes in particular. They were so happy with the job they did that I just had to take a picture. The elders are so inspiring.

This cemetery is veryclose to our chapel and they put out hundreds of flags for memorial weekend. The view was so striking that we had to stop and take some pictures. There were lots of people just walking around and looking at the flags. I'm glad we have a time to remember those who have served our country so well.

Our daughter came for a visit. It was wonderful to see her and our granddaughter Riley. They are of the modern generation and spend a lot of time with the various electrons that are available. Riley loves her I-Pad. She is learning her numbers, colors, shapes etc. She also watches movies and plays games. Nellie has one of those magic phones that does everything. It even gives her directions as she is driving.

We tried to help Riley find some non-electronic entertainment. This was her favorite. Even though we attempted to show her how make them golden brown she seemed to find a way to light them on fire. The fun part was then having grandmas help her blow them out. The usually went on until we ran out of marshmellows. She is a delightful child and we were very glad to have her visit.
